HF-L Dance Centre - "It takes an athlete to dance, but an artist to be a dancer."

Shoe & Attire Requirements

You've asked:

Why is there a dress code for dance classes?

We answered:

Leotards: It is very important for dance teachers to see the dancer's bodies at work. The students must wear a leotard that is form fitting and flexible. Specific colors are required so the class appears unified providing teachers awareness to instruct and determine when corrections are necessary.

Tights: Tights are worn to protect the legs from scrapes and burns that can occur from shoes or the floor. (Pantyhose do not protect legs and are therefore not acceptable for class.)
BOYS: A t-shirt and shorts or flexible pants are appropriate attire.

Shoes: Appropriate shoes (including specified color) are required. Attention should be paid to the proper fit, as loose fitting shoes can cause injury, and those that are out-grown can cause improper development of the bones.

Hair: Hair must be secured away from the face in a bun.

We do not require dance attire for NEW dancers during the summer session. Our 10-month session does follow the dress code below.

ALL SHOES CAN BE PURCHASED AT THE STUDIO...and we do suggest this to avoid the wrong color/style/fit of shoes.

We provide shoes to try on for fitting purposes at the studio for most required shoes.

(Must be paid for at the time of order.)
